The front elevation is asymmetrically planned with a thrust bay and a part width return hip roofed verandah. The verandah is supported on timber posts. A vertical timber balustrade spans between the posts. There is a central front door flanked by casement windows. The half-timbered thrust bay features casements under a sunhood. The lower walls are face brick and the upper walls rendered. The main roof features a half-timbered gable.

1950 Crank Handle Strikes Man. When a diesel motor he was cranking backfired at the new South Fremantle power station about 11.30 a.m. yesterday, Alfred Fredrick Black (41), married, leading handfitter, of Fortescue-street, East Fremantle, was struck on the head by the crank handle. He was taken to the Fremantle Hospital in a St. John' ambulance and was admitted with a fractured skull and abrasions to the face. His name was placed on the danger list and last night his condition was still reported to be serious. The motor he was cranking drives a compressor at the station. (reference)

No. 62 Fortescue Street is a single-storey house constructed in timber framing, weatherboard and fibrous cement cladding with a hipped, corrugated-iron roof. It is a very simple expression of the Inter-War Austerity style. The front elevation is asymmetrically planned with a part-width, hipped-roof verandah. The verandah is supported on timber posts with a timber balustrade spanning between them. There is a central door flanked by casement windows. The roofscape features a rendered chimney.
The place retains its basic form and details, however, there are additions to the rear.
The place is consistent with the building pattern in the Precinct and it plays an important role in the pattern of development of a middle-class suburb.

1938 Perth Cup Sweep. A holiday crowd filled the Perth Town Hall yesterday morning to witness the drawing of the No. 74 mammoth lottery on the Perth Cup conducted by the Lotteries Commission. The chairman (Mr. J.J. 1938 Car Overturns. Man Pinned Under Steering Wheel. When a motor car he was driving overturned in High-street, Fremantle, last night, pinning him under the steering wheel, William Baker (22), of 72 Fortescue-street, East Fremantle, had a lucky escape from serious injury. He was taken by the St. John ambulance to the Fremantle Hospital, where he was treated for slight concussion and was then allowed to go home. (reference)

1946 Merchant Applies for Licence. The Bench also reserved its decision sine die in respect of an application by Walter John Bailey, store keeper, of Rockingham-road, Spearwood, for a gallon licence.
