Inter-War, Diagonal Plan Porch House Bungalow

No 65 Fortescue Street is a single storey house constructed in brick and rendered brick with a hipped and gable tiled roof. It is a fine expression of the Inter-War Bungalow style. The front elevation is asymmetrically planned with a gable thrust bay and a part width broken back and gabled roofed verandah. The verandah is supported on Tuscan columns set on piers. A rendered balustrade spans between the piers. The verandah terminates at a gabled thrust bay. The thrust bay features a set of casement windows under a tiled awning. There is a central door and hopper light flanked by sidelights and casement windows. The brickwork features rendered string courses. The roofscape features brick chimneys and finials.

1931 Economical Eggless Puddings for Harassed Housewife.—Well-tried Plum Pudding: 2 cups plain flour, 1 cup sugar, 1 cup currants, 1 cup raisins, a little candied peel, 1 teaspoon spice; rub dry ingredients together; mix with 1½ cups hot water, in which melt 1 tablespoon butter or dripping and 1 teaspoon carbonate of soda. Boil three to four hours. Serve with custard. Ginger Pudding: Beat 2 tablespoons of dripping, sugar, and golden syrup; well melt to make easy, then add 1 cup of milk, in which is dissolved half teaspoon carbonate of soda; stir well in 1½ cups s.r. flour, 1 teaspoon ginger, ½ teaspoon spice, and a pinch of salt. Steam in greased mould for two hours. Serve with custard or white sauce. Sultana Roll: 2 cups s.r. flour, ¼lb. suet chopped finely, 1 cup sultanas; mix well with cold water; roll in floured cloth. Early Federation, Georgian Influences

No 65 (previously known as No 125) Hubble Street is a single-story cottage constructed in rendered masonry with a hipped corrugated iron roof. It is a good example of Federation Bungalow style house. The place has been renovated in the 21st Century. It is symmetrically planned with a central door and hopper light flanked by sidelights and double hung sash windows. The facade features a full-width bullnose verandah supported on timber posts. There is a timber framed garage at the front of the lot on the south side.

1921 Obituary. The funeral of the late Mr. Joseph Porter, engine-driver, of the Fremantle Municipal Tramways, where he had been employed for the past fifteen and a half years, took place on Tuesday afternoon, the 16th inst, and was attended by many friends. The deceased, who was 60 years of age, was born in Belfast, Ireland, but had been a resident of this State for the last 27 years. A widow and daughter survive him. The funeral cortege moved from his late residence, 125 Hubble-street, East Fremantle, and proceeded to the local cemetery, where the remains were laid to rest in the Church of England portion. A finding that death was due to injuries received when the deceased fell out of bed on to a water jug was returned in the Fremantle Courthouse yesterday, when the District Coroner (Mr. H. J. Craig, S.M.) conducted an inquest concerning the death of Mrs. Sarah Ann Sorrell (49), of 125 Hubble-street, East Fremantle. Mrs. Sorrell was injured on July 2 and died at the Fremantle Hospital on the following day...William George Sorrell, lumper, husband of the deceased, said that he left his home about 7 p.m. on July 2 and returned at 10.45, when his son-in-law told him that Mrs. Sorrell had had an accident. Witness saw his wife lying on the bedroom floor in a large pool of blood. She had had "a little too much wine," he stated. (reference)

It is symmetrically composed with a full width skillion roofed verandah supported on timber posts. A gable is located central on the verandah and marks the entry. There is a central door flanked by sets of casement windows. The lower walls are face brick and the upper walls are rendered. The roofscape features a rendered chimney and finials. The place sits on a limestone foundation.

It is a Federation Bungalow style house that was extensive modified in the late 1950s. The front elevation is symmetrically planned with a full width skillion roofed verandah. The verandah is mostly filled in with fibrous cement cladding and glazed louvres.
