Stoddart, 22 Hubble-street, East Fremantle whose entry is as follows: Picnic Assets: A canvas bag, with a handle, in which to carry the billy when it is dirty is a useful help at picnic time. Aspirin bottles with holes pierced in the tops make handy salt and pepper shakers for picnics. Economical Cot Sheets. Bags in which hams are packed may be bought cheaply from most growers. When unpicked, hemmed and well boiled they make economical and serviceable cot sheets. To Destroy Ants. A sure method of destroying ants outside the house is to pour petrol on the spot; then, after taking due precautions, set it alight. A Handy Iron-Stand. Tack a piece of board, cut to shape, to the back of an asbestos mat. It will then prevent the table from being scorched, also the surface of the iron from being scratched. To Keep Cakes Fresh. A method of keeping cakes fresh for at least two months is to pack them, while still hot from the oven, in brown sugar. (reference)
