ARCHITECTURE
Inter-War / Post-War/ Post-War Austere with Inter-War Influences
No. 26 Stratford Street built after 1949, is a single-storey house constructed in limestone, brick and rendered-brick, with a hipped and tiled roof. It is a simple expression of the Inter-War Porch style. It is asymmetrically composed with a thrust bay and a hipped-roof porch. The porch is supported on steel posts. The original porch has been replaced. A steel-framed balustrade with timber cladding spans between the posts. The thrust bay features a stout brick chimney and a corner suite under a sunhood. There is a central door flanked by a pair of double-hung sash windows. The place is elevated above the garden and sits on limestone foundations.
The house has been extensively modified with additions to the side, north and rear, however, it retains its form and some of its details.
