ARCHITECTURE

Inter-War Californian Bungalow

No 14 Stratford Street is a single storey house constructed in limestone, tuck-pointed brick and rendered brick with a hipped and gabled tiled roof. It is a fine expression of the Inter-War California Bungalow style. It is asymmetrically composed with a thrust bay and a part width hip roofed porch. The porch is supported on tapered columns set over rendered piers. A rendered balustrade spans between the piers. The thrust bay features a set of three double hung sash windows under a tiled awning. There is a central door flanked by a further set of windows. The place sits on limestone foundations. The lower walls are tuck-pointed brick and the upper walls are rendered. There are brick string courses and soldier course detailing. A set of stairs leads from the porch to the garden. The roofscape features a rendered chimney and finials.
