The death last Wednesday of Mr. Percy Edwin Flint, District Registrar at Fremantle, is deeply regretted by a wide circle of friends, to whom his demise came as a shock, even though it was known that he had for some time been in poor health. The late Mr. Flint, who was 53 years of age, came to this State from New South Wales at an early age, and was employed as a clerk for a number of years by Holmes Bros., wholesale and retail butchers at the Port. Transferring later to the 4th Division Ammunition Corps, he was on active service for practically the whole period of the war. Serving with distinction, and returned to Western Australia very badly gassed. 1946 League Football. East Fremantle Impresses Record Crowd. East Fremantle celebrated the unfurling of its 1945 league football premiership pennant at Fremantle Oval on Saturday by outplaying South Fremantle and winning by 39 points. A record crowd of 10,123 saw East Fremantle win by superior teamwork and pace in the second half. West Perth and East Fremantle, the only unbeaten teams, will meet at Subiaco Oval next Monday in a match which will indicate the extent of West Perth's improvement since last year...An experiment in the forward lines was successful. In previous matches Woods, the East Fremantle goalsneak, had revealed his ability to get the ball but could not kick the goals wanted from him. It was decided, therefore, to shift him out to a half-forward flank and to try out C. Ballingall as goalsneak. C. Woods did well in his new position and Ballingall's first three kicks yielded three goals. It was East Fremantle's 18th victory in succession, including 10 matches last season and three scratch matches and five premiership games this year. (reference)
