Inter-War, Californian Bungalow
No 74 Irwin Street is a single storey house constructed in brick and rendered brick with a hipped and gabled tiled roof. It is an expression of the California Bungalow style. The place has been extensively modified in the 21st Century. The front elevation is asymmetrically planned with a thrust bay and a gabled verandah porch. The porch roof extends over the thrust bay to act as a sunhood. The porch is supported on Tuscan columns over masonry piers. A masonry balustrade spans between the piers. The thrust bay features a set of casement windows. There is a central door flanked by a set of casement windows. Additions have been made to both sides of the house in a near matching style.
HISTORY
1941 White lace over satin was favored for the wedding frock worn by Miss Mona Hall for her wedding yesterday to Mr. Herbert J. Ainsworth. The dress was designed with a heart neckline to the bodice, and the full skirt forming a train. Her lace-appliqued tulle veil was held with orange blossom, and she carried frangipani and tuberoses. The bride is the youngest, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sid Hall, of Lefroy-road, South Fremantle, and the groom the youngest son of Mrs. A. and the late Mr. Ainsworth, of Forrest-street, East Fremantle... 1947 Death on April 22, at Fremantle Hospital Blanche Maude Hall, of 74 Irwin-street, East Fremantle, widow of the late Sidney Hall; loved mother of George, Sid (deceased), Hughie, Thelma (Mrs. G.
