ARCHITECTURE

Interwar Bungalow w Arts & Crafts Influences

No 7A Walter Street is a single storey house constructed in limestone, brick and rendered brick with a hipped and gable tiled roof. It is an expression of the Inter-War Porch style. The place has been extensively modified including a later addition to the front in the same style. It is asymmetrically composed with a gable roofed porch. The porch is supported on square piers. The porch is mainly obscured by a later addition. A brick and rendered balustrade extends from the porch to the north. A long set of steps leads down to the garden from this extension. The building steps back from the porch in a series of planes with gabled and hipped roofs. The walls are rendered with decorative brick decorative treatments. Windows are casements. There is a door under the porch flanked by casement windows. The place sits on limestone foundations. The roofscape features a tall rendered chimney.
