ARCHITECTURE

Federation, Bungalow w Regency Influences

No 28 Hamilton Street is a single storey house constructed in limestone and brick with a hipped corrugated iron roof. It is an expression of the Federation Bungalow style from the Victorian period. In the 1930s the place underwent major alterations. Since then the place has been restored to reflect the original Federation Bungalow style. The front elevation is asymmetrically planned with a full width return bullnose roofed verandah. The verandah is supported on chamfered timber posts with post brackets. The verandah is a replacement. The walls are limestone and all quoins are brick. There is a central door flanked by sidelights, a double hung sash window and a bay window. The bay window extends above the verandah and features double hung sash windows. The roofscape features a pair of render capped chimneys.
