ARCHITECTURE
No 27 Alexandra Road is a single-storey house constructed in tuck pointed brick and rendered brick with a hipped and gable corrugated iron roof. It is a very fine expression of the Federation Filigree style. It is symmetrically composed with a full-width return hip roofed verandah. The verandah is supported on turned timber posts with post brackets. A vertical timber balustrade spans between the posts. A gable roofed porch is located centrally over the verandah. The gable has timber filigree detailing and a jettied gable. There is a central door flanked by pairs of French double hung sash windows. There are rendered string courses. The roofscape features several tall, part rendered chimneys.

1934 ...Mr. Phillip Bennett, of Cooarra, 27 Alexandra-road, East Fremantle...Born in Victoria 68 years ago, Mr. Bennett lived in Tasmania for a number of years, going to Fremantle in 1894. He conducted a grocery business in partnership with the late Mr. W. Burnside at Fremantle for 34 years, retiring two years ago. He was a foundation member and at times president and vice-president of the Fremantle Business Men's Association, and was a committee member association at the time of his retirement from business. He was a member of long standing of Beaconsfield Lodge. No. 14, W.A.C. and was a past chief ranger of Court Unity Lodge, A.O.F. He left a widow, five daughters and four sons. (reference)

Bateman), Wynn. Tom, Phil, Cliff, Joan (Mrs. R. Graham), and Joyce (Mrs. L. S. Cook) and the late Roy (1st A.I.F.), Frank and Phil, fond grandma of Philip. Peter, Bill, Shirley, Guy, John, Ann, Roy and Edwina; aged 74 years. (reference)
