Inter-War Diagonal Plan Bungalow Porch House w Arts & Crafts Influences
No 12 Oakover Street is a single storey house constructed in brick and rendered brick house with a hipped and gable corrugated iron roof. It is a fine expression of the Inter-War Bungalow style. It is asymmetrically composed with a thrust gable bay and a part width return hip roofed verandah. The verandah is supported on Tuscan columns set over piers. A masonry balustrade spans between the piers. A gable roof is located over the north corner of the verandah. The gable bay features casement windows and a sunhood. There is a central door flanked by sidelights and another door. The walls are brick with render string courses. The roofscape features a tall brick chimney.
HISTORY
1935 Pillion Rider Injured. Robert Fraser (20), of Ainslie-road, North Fremantle, was admitted to the Fremantle Hospital last night, suffering from a bruised right shin and lacerations. About 7.30 o'clock he was riding on the pillion of a motor cycle driven by Stanley Hogan, of Thompson-road, South Fremantle, when it came into collision with a motor car driven by Frederick Price, of 12 Oakover-street, East Fremantle, in Victoria-avenue, near the North Fremantle Town Hall. The motor cycle overturned crushing Fraser’s leg beneath it. Both vehicles were slightly damaged. (reference)
