Got an honorable mention in the Sunday Times recipe Contest (reference)
Ingredients:
6 Oranges
1 cup of sugar
1 pint (600 ml) milk
3 eggs
1 teaspoon of cornflour
Extra teaspoon of sugar
Method:
Cut the oranges into thin slices then pour sugar over them
Boil the milk and add the beaten yolks only of the eggs plus the cornflour rubbed smooth in a little cold milk.
Stir this constantly until it begins to thicken like custard then pour over oranges.
Beat the whites of the eggs to a stiff froth, adding extra teaspoon of sugar
Put on top of custard and set in oven to brown.
Best eaten cold
