1929 Golden Glow Cake Filling

Ingredients:

  • Filling 1:

  • 3 tablespoons melted butter

  • 3 cups of powdered sugar

  • 2 tablespoons orange juice

  • grated rind and pulp of 1 orange

  • 1 egg white

  • 3 oz (90g) chocolate

  • Chopped walnuts

Method:

  1. Put butter, sugar, orange rind in a bowl then cut the pulp from the orange and remove pips and

  2. skin. Add the pulp and then fold in the beaten egg white. Spread this icing over the top cake and

  3. sprinkle with shaved chocolate

  4. Melt 2 1⁄2 squares of chocolate and add to the remaining mixture. Spread this thickly between layers and on the sides of cake.

  5. Sprinkle all over with chopped walnuts
