3rd Prize winner in the 24 Jan 1909 Sunday Times (reference)
Ingredients:
2 lbs (1 kg) potatoes
2 lbs (1 kg) onions
2 teaspoons of white dripping
1 pint (600 ml) milk
2 teaspoons of sago
2 quarts (2 litres) water
1 pinch of salt
Method:
Slice potatoes and onions
Melt dripping in a saucepan and stir vegetables in it for 5 minutes
Add water with a pinch of salt and boil until vegetables are sof Rub vegetables through sieve and return to saucepan with sago
Cook until sago is clear then add milk and quickly boil
Serve hot.
