ARCHITECTURE
Federation / Gable Domestic Carpenter
No 32 (previously known as No 60) Hubble Street is a single storey house constructed in timber framing and corrugated iron cladding with a gabled corrugated iron roof. It is an unusual expression of the Federation Bungalow style. There have been numerous modifications to the place. The place was asymmetrically planned with a thrust gable bay and a part width curved skillion roofed verandah. The verandah was supported on square timber posts. Part of the verandah was enclosed with fibrous cement sheet walling. The gable bay features a single pane double hung sash window with a curved sunhood. The second gable, verandah and zincalume cladding were later modifications (1990).

2024: “I have attached a copy of a picture of 32 Hubble Street. This photo was taken around 1959. The house was purchased in 1959 by Mr and Mrs A. White from Alice Wright via vendor sale. From other documents that I have it appears that Mr and Mrs White were renting the house prior to purchase (from at least 1953). The house remained in the White family until 1990 when Mrs White passed away”. Regards, Robyn Walker
