Inter-War / Bungalow Porch House w Arts & Crafts Influences
No 20 Irwin Street is a single storey house constructed in painted brick and rendered brick with a gable tiled roof. It is an expression of the Inter-War California Bungalow style. The front elevation is asymmetrically planned with a thrust gable bay and a part width skillion roofed verandah. The verandah is supported on timber posts. A weatherboard clad gable extends above the verandah. The gable bay features a set of casement windows under a sunhood.
HISTORY
1929 Youth Charged. A youth nearly 18 years of age was charged by Detectives Blight and Flannigan in the Fremantle Children's Court this morning with having stolen a pair of gold sleeve links, a shirt and 5s-the property of Leonard G. Hart. It was stated that Hart's residence was broken into last Saturday morning. Defendant was placed on probation for two years. (reference)
