ARCHITECTURE
Federation / Commercial w Simple Free Classical Influences
No. 17 (previously was no. 35) Preston Point road is a single storey house constructed in rendered brick. The place has a hipped corrugated iron roof behind a parapet wall. The lot spans between Preston Point Road and Reynolds Street. The place was formerly a shop and has since been converted into a residence. A two storey addition has been built to the rear. The shop is a simple expression of the Federation Free Classical style. The front elevation is asymmetrically planned with a full width return hip roofed verandah. The verandah is a replacement and is supported on timber posts. The entry door is located on the corner. The door is flanked by fixed light windows and hopper lights. A rendered parapet extends above the verandah.
