Inter-War Domestic carpenter w Simple Arts & Crafts Influences
No 11 Stratford Street is a single storey house constructed in timber framing and weatherboard cladding with a hipped corrugated iron roof. It is a Workers’ Home Board house in the Inter-War Bungalow style. It is symmetrically composed with a full width return hip roofed verandah. The verandah is supported on timber posts. A vertical timber balustrade spans between posts. The front elevation features two sets of casement windows. The entrance is located to the side of the house under the return verandah. The roofscape features a masonry chimney.
The place retains its form and most of its details. The original tiled roof has been replaced with corrugated iron sheeting. There are additions to the rear and side of the house.
HISTORY
1927 Miss Cynthia Mummery is lady cub master for the 'F' pack of wolf cubs, Fremantle while Mrs. A. Bray, acts in' a' similar capacity for 'G' pack, Beaconsfield.(reference)
