No. 61 (previously was no. 141) Duke Street is a single-storey cottage in timber framed and jarrah weatherboard construction with a hipped corrugated iron roof. The facade features a full-width bull-nosed roofed verandah on turned timber posts with a decorative timber frieze.
The place is consistent with the pattern of development in Plympton and plays an important role in the pattern of development of a working class suburb.
HISTORY
1907 Fremantle Tram Fatality. The Inquest. …Charles Cloke, a small boy, residing in Duke-street, East Fremantle, stated that he boarded a Marmion-street car at 5.12 p.m. on May 27, and took a seat near the motorman 'at the front of the car.' The car in descending the hill in High-street went at a very rapid rate, and he hung on to the brass arm at the side of the seat He did not notice the motorman make any effort to stop the car, but he was not paying much attention to the actions of the motorman… (reference)

1939 Funeral. A highly respected resident of Fremantle, Mr. Peter George Cloke of 61 Duke-street, East Fremantle, passed away on Wednesday, and the funeral took place yesterday afternoon, when his remains were interred in the Church of England portion of the Fremantle Cemetery. Mr. Cloke, who was born at Warrnambool, Victoria, in 1875, came to Western Australia 42 years ago and settled in Fremantle, where he had lived until the time of his death. He was in the employ of the Postal Department as overseer of the mail room at the Fremantle Post Office which position he held for a number of years until about a year ago, when ill-health overtook him. Mr. Cloke was of bright and cheerful disposition and was particularly devoted to his home and family. He leaves a wife, four sons, two daughters and four grandchildren to mourn their loss. Furzer), fond mother-in-law of Mollie, Lena, Alice, Leila and Michael, dear Gran of Jackie, Frankie and Ray Cloke, Edna and Donald Cloke and Ellen Furzer: aged 70 years. (reference)
