No 91 Canning Highway is a series of interconnected single-storey brick and rendered brick buildings.
HISTORY
Harts Garage was constructed in 1926 and become a service station in 1929. In 1963 the garage underwent remodelling. The original shop front and canopy were removed and a new façade constructed. In 1965 the petrol pumps were removed.
1929 False Pretences. Charged by Det. Blight with having obtained £5 by false pretences, Edward Ernest Cox, alias Edward Du Pri, was sentenced to three months hard labor concurrent on a sentence of six months which he was already serving on a similar charge. Det. Blight said that Cox presented a £5 cheque to John Hart, of Canning-road, East Fremantle, and received cash. (reference)
1952 Widow Sues Over Fire Fatality. Unspecified damages are claimed in a writ which has been issued out of the Supreme Court against John Hart, garage proprietor, residing at Dalgety-street, East Fremantle. The claimant is Trixie Kathleen Jackson, widow, of Peninsula-road, Maylands. Mrs. Jackson says that her husband, Keith Douglas Jackson (25), waterside worker, died on March 18 from burns received on March 6 when a motor cycle, owned and ridden by him, caught fire while its petrol tank was being filled at a pump attached to the defendant's garage at the corner of Canning-highway and Sewell street, East Fremantle… (reference)
2022: The combined lands (91, 93 and 95 Canning Highway) are surrounded by Canning, Stirling, St.Peters & Sewell (Sts, Rd, Hwy) and in 2022 are subject to a DA application to redevelop the entire site with an apartment & commercial building: 95 apartments, 1,200m2 of commercial space and 1,700m2 of Public Open Space. This will be a major transformation of the site and be highly prominent on the East Fremantle landscape as it is also a gateway/landmark site for traffic entering the Fremantle precinct from the North.

In the 1980s the property was split into two. The front part included Fremantle Brake and Clutch and Instant Windscreens and WA Suspensions. The rear was occupied by Colorgraphics, then by Australian Graphics from 1988.
