ARCHITECTURE

Late Interwar / Bungalow Porch House w Arts & Crafts Influences

No 81 Dalgety Street -’Nasese’’- is a single storey house constructed in limestone and brick with a hipped and gable tiled roof. The front elevation is asymmetrically planned with a gable thrust bay flanked by a hip roofed verandah. The prominent gable features double hung sash windows under a sunhood. The entry door has been relocated to the addition at the rear. The roofscape features rendered chimneys.

HISTORY

1924 Birth on June 24, at their residence, ‘’Nasese’’ Dalgety-street, East Fremantle, to Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Miller—a son. Both well. (reference)

1944 Flying-Officer. Peter Miller, instructor in the Eastern States, now completing eight days home leave, was entertained at tea by Mayor Gibson, M.L.C., today. Miller was the first A.T.C. cadet from No. 76 Squadron (Fremantle) to gain a commission in the R.A.A.F. Nineteen years of age, he is the only son of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Miller, of Dalgety Street, East Fremantle. (reference)

1951 Death on Dec 19, John Leith Miller, of Kalamunda, and late of the Fremantle Harbour Trust, dearly loved husband of Vera Miller, loved father of Peter and Glenn, and father-in-law of Trill, dear friend of Ida and Jeff Sinclair. He fought the good fight. A tribute to the memory and deepest sympathy to the widow and children of our late member John, who passed away Dec. 19 at Repatriation General Hospital, Perth, Inserted by Darling Range Sub Branch R.S.L.
