ARCHITECTURE

Inter-War Bungalow Redeveloped with Federation Influences

No 37 May Street is a single-storey house constructed in rendered brick with a hipped and gabled corrugated iron roof. It is an Inter-War bungalow restyled in the Federation Bungalow style. The place is asymmetrically planned with a thrust bay and part-width skillion roof verandah. The verandah is supported on timber posts with a fretwork frieze. There is a central door flanked by a set of three casement windows. The thrust gable bay features the same window detail with a sunhood over.

The place is consistent with the pattern of development in Plympton and plays an important role in the pattern of development of a working class suburb.
