ARCHITECTURE

Federation, Gable Domestic Carpenter w Georgian Influences

No. 34 (previously was no. 82) Sewell street is a single story cottage constructed in timber framing and weatherboard cladding with a gabled corrugated iron roof. It is a simple expression of the Federation Bungalow style. The front elevation is symmetrically planned with a central door flanked by double hung sash windows. The facade features a full width skillion roofed verandah supported on steel posts.

1926 Funeral. The friends of the late Mrs. Harriet Brown, dearly beloved wife of Mr. Ernest William Brown, fond mother of Tom, Bill and Ronald, are respectfully invited to follow her remains to the place of internment, the Anglican Cemetery, Fremantle. 1937 Boy Struck by Car. Early last night Ronald Brown (13), of 82 Sewell-street, East Fremantle, alighted from a car outside the East Fremantle post office, and when crossing the road to the post office was struck by a car driven by Sydney Ryan, of 10 Bolton-street, East Fremantle. The boy, who sustained abrasions, was driven to the Fremantle Hospital by Ryan, and was detained for treatment. (reference)

1942 Death on September 2, at Fremantle, Ivo Henry Coplestone, of 12 Angwin-street, East Fremantle, husband of the late Grace Coplestone, dearly beloved cousin of Mary (Mrs Brown), Gladys and Winnie Halestrap, of 34 Sewell-street, East Fremantle; aged 59 years. (reference)
