ARCHITECTURE

Inter-War Simple Inter-War Bungalow w Georgian Influences

No 30 Oakover Street is a single storey house constructed in tuck-pointed brick and rendered brick with a hipped corrugated iron roof. It is a fine expression of the Inter-War Bungalow style. It is symmetrically composed with a central door and hopper light flanked by sidelights and double hung sash windows. The front facade features a full width skillion roofed verandah. The verandah is supported on timber posts with fretwork post brackets. There are render string courses and the windows have decorative sills. The roofscape features a render capped chimney.

1941 Death on January 21, at Claremont, Henry William (Harry) Collins, of 30 Oakover-street, East Fremantle, loving brother of Mrs. M. A. Roberts, East Fremantle, and Maud (Mrs. T. Stewart, North Fremantle), and fond uncle of Charlie, Vic, Ettie (Mr T. Hodson, Fremantle); aged 72 years. (reference)

1947 Fall From Swing. Neil Cummings (about 16), of Oakover-street, East Fremantle, received a fractured right wrist when he fell from a swing on the beach at Leighton yesterday afternoon. He was taken by St. John ambulance to Fremantle Hospital. (reference)

1949 Death on October 10, suddenly, at Fremantle, Sydney Gordon Cumming, beloved husband of Nance Cumming, of 30 Oakover street, East Fremantle, loved father of Gordon, Brian, Nell, Ken, Bruce, Suzanne and Peter; aged 54 years. (reference)
