ARCHITECTURE

Inter-War Bungalow w Federation Influences

No 28 Fortescue Street is a single storey house constructed in brick with a hipped tile roof. The front elevation is symmetrically planned with a central door and hopper light flanked by sidelights and windows. The windows are double hung sashes flanked by sidelights. The facade features a full width return hip roofed verandah supported on timber posts. A timber balustrade runs between the posts. Concrete stairs extend down into the garden from the verandah. The roofscape features rendered a pair of rendered chimneys and finials.

HISTORY

1943 The engagement is announced of Florence May, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Farrington, of 28 Fortescue Street, East Fremantle, to Corporal Frederick Roy, second eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Whitchurch, of 21 Gordon street, Kalgoorlie. (reference)
