Bungalow w Federation Influences

No 25 Gill Street is a single storey house constructed in limestone and brick with a hipped and gable corrugated iron roof. It is an expression of the Inter-War Bungalow style. The front elevation is asymmetrically planned with a thrust gable bay and a part width return hip roofed verandah. The verandah is supported on timber posts. The gable bay features a set of windows under a sun hood. There is a central door flanked by sets of windows. The place sits on limestone foundations. There is a set of concrete stairs from the verandah to the garden.

HISTORY

1939 Birth on July 30, at St. Helen's, East Fremantle, to Elsie and Jack Baird, 25 Gill street, East Fremantle—a son (John McKay). Both well. (reference)

1940 Death on October 16, at Subiaco, John McKay, dearly beloved only child of Ernest John and Elsie Rose Anne Baird, of 25 Gill-street, East Fremantle; aged 14½ months. (reference)
