1947 Lumper Fined. Charged with having stolen two pairs of socks, valued at 8/. The property of McIlwraith, McEacharn Ltd. Charles Gorton (32). Wharf labourer of 138 Marmion street.He was fined £10. Evidence was that accused was seen leaving the steamer Koomilya at 5 p.m.on Friday with two pairs of socks in his possession. When questioned the accused admitted that he had taken them from No. 2 hold. (reference)
