1922 Milk Chocolate

Won third prize in the Sunday Times Recipe Contest (reference)

Ingredients:

  • 1 oz ( 28 g) rock chocolate

  • 1 lb ( 450 g) castor sugar

  • cold water

  • A little milk

Method:

  1. Scrape chocolate to a powder and mix with sugar

  2. Add enough cold water to mix this into a thick paste, stirring until smooth

  3. Add a little milk

  4. Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring all the while

  5. Spread layers or drop small lumps on to greased paper and let stand to cool
