1936 Steamed Golden Pudding

Prize winner in the 05 Jul 1936 Sunday Times (reference)

Ingredients:

  • 3 tablespoons dripping

  • ½ lb (225 g) plain flour

  • 1 tablespoon sugar

  • 1 tablespoon golden syrup

  • 1 cup of milk

  • 1 teaspoon of carbonate of soda

Method:

  1. Rub dripping into flour then add sugar and golden syrup.

  2. Heat milk and mix in carbonate of soda.

  3. Add to dry ingredients and place in sealable steaming tin.

  4. Steam for 3 hours and serve with custard sauce.
