Inter-War Californian Bungalow
No 173 Petra Street is a single-storey house constructed in limestone, brick and rendered brick with a hipped and gable tiled roof. It is a fine expression of the Inter-War California Bungalow style. The front elevation is asymmetrically planned with a thrust bay and a gable roofed porch. The half-timbered porch is supported on square piers. A masonry balustrade spans between the piers. The roof of the porch extends over the thrust and acts as a sunhood. The half-timbered thrust bay features a set of casement and fixed light windows. There is a central door flanked by a set of casement and fixed light windows. The place sits on limestone foundations. The front elevation lower walls are face brick and the upper walls rendered. Side walls are face brick. The roofscape features a rendered chimney and finials. A set of concrete steps descends to a garden path from the porch.
