Federation / Domestic Carpenter Villa w Filigree Influences
No. 23 (previously known as No. 57) King Street is a single storey cottage constructed in timber framing and weatherboard cladding with a hipped corrugated iron roof. The front elevation is asymmetrically planned with a thrust bay and bullnosed roofed verandah. The verandah is supported on turned timber posts and follows the line of the building on the front elevation. A decorative frieze and vertical timber balustrades span between the timber posts.
HISTORY
1925 Death Notice. In loving memory of our dear mother, Susannah Truscott, who passed away at 57 King-street, East Fremantle, on March 12, 1925; also our dear father, William John, who passed away on May 26, 1914, at West Leederville.(reference)
1933 Funeral Notice. The Friends of the late Mr. James Henry Truscott, of 57 King Street, East Fremantle, formerly of Trafalgar, W.A., and formerly of the 11th Battalion, A.I.F. are respectfully informed that his remains will be interred in the Methodist portion of the Fremantle Cemetery.
