A brief History of Silas Street

William Silas Pearse (1838 – 1908) was a Fremantle-born merchant and politician. He was a Justice of the Peace, a Fremantle Town Councillor, and the founding president of the Fremantle Building Society, established in 1875. Pearse was an MLC representing Fremantle in 1872-80 and 1884- 90. He was an MLA for North Fremantle from 1890 to 1895.

Mrs Barbara Hicks lived at 59 Silas St (now 39) from 1911-1925 with daughter Barbara Mary and son Donald Jabez HICKS (Service No. 7069), who signed up for WW I on 5th.
